IT strategy and roadmaps

Most organisations add technology one decision at a time. Over the years that leaves a mix of systems, contracts and workarounds that nobody planned. An IT strategy steps back and asks what the business needs from its technology over the next few years.

We start by understanding your goals and reviewing what you have in place today: systems, suppliers, costs, skills and risks. From there we identify the gaps and the opportunities, and test them with the people who use the systems every day.

The result is a written roadmap that sets out what to do first, what can wait and what it is likely to cost. It gives directors a basis for budgeting and gives your team a clear sequence to follow.

Systems and software selection

Choosing a new system is a decision you live with for years. Supplier demonstrations are designed to impress, and it is hard to compare products that describe the same features in different ways.

We help you define what you need before you speak to suppliers: the processes the system must support, the data it must hold and the points you cannot compromise on. We then build a shortlist, set up structured demonstrations and score each option against your requirements.

You make the final choice with evidence in front of you, including a clear view of costs over the life of the contract. We are not tied to any vendor, so the recommendation reflects your requirements alone.

Cloud and infrastructure

Cloud services can reduce the hardware you maintain and make it easier for people to work from anywhere. They also bring monthly costs, new security questions and a dependence on your supplier and your connection.

We review how your systems are hosted today and which of them would benefit from a move. For each one we look at cost, performance, security and the effort involved, so that you move the right things for the right reasons.

If you are already in the cloud, we check that you are paying only for what you use and that backups, access and recovery work as you expect. Either way you get a practical plan that your IT provider or internal team can carry out.

Security and resilience reviews

A security incident can stop a business from trading and damage trust that took years to earn. Many incidents start with ordinary weaknesses: a reused password, a missed update, a backup that was never tested.

Our review looks at how your systems and data are protected in practice. We cover access and passwords, devices, updates, backups, supplier arrangements and how well staff are prepared to spot a problem.

You receive a prioritised list of findings in plain English, with the most important fixes first. We also help you think through what you would do on the day something goes wrong, so that recovery is quicker and calmer.

Digital transformation

Paper forms, re-typed data and spreadsheets passed around by email take time and introduce mistakes. They also make it difficult to see what is happening across the business.

We map how the work is done today and find the steps where a digital tool would make a real difference. Sometimes that means new software. Often it means making better use of tools you already pay for.

We help you introduce the change in manageable stages, with training and clear guidance for the people involved. The goal is a way of working that your team prefers to the old one.

IT project support

Technology projects involve suppliers, internal teams and deadlines that depend on each other. Without someone watching the whole picture, delays and extra costs build up quietly.

We act on your side of the table. We help define the scope, plan the work, review supplier proposals and keep track of progress, risks and decisions.

During delivery we report clearly on where things stand and raise issues early. When the project finishes, we make sure it is properly tested, documented and handed over to the people who will run it.

Management consultancy

A business that runs the way you intend.

Support for leaders on planning, operations and change. Our management consultancy does not cover financial management.

Business planning and strategy

A business plan is useful when it guides decisions through the year. Too often it is written once and then filed away.

We work with owners and directors to set out where the organisation is heading, what it will focus on and what it will leave alone. We look at your market, your capacity and the resources you have to work with.

The output is a short, usable plan with priorities, owners and measures of progress. We can also help you set up a simple review rhythm so that the plan stays current.

Process improvement

As organisations grow, processes pick up extra steps, approvals and duplicate records. People work hard, yet work still waits in queues.

We map a process from start to finish with the people who carry it out. That shows where time is lost, where errors creep in and which steps add nothing for the customer.

Together we redesign the process, agree who does what and decide how you will know it is working. Changes are introduced in small steps so that day-to-day work carries on.

Project and programme management

Projects fail more often through unclear ownership and poor communication than through technical difficulty. Good structure makes delivery predictable.

We can set up a project for you or step into one that is already under way. That includes defining scope, building a realistic plan, clarifying roles and putting simple reporting in place.

For organisations running several projects at once, we help you see them as a single programme. You can then manage shared resources, spot clashes early and decide what to prioritise.

Change management

A new system or structure only delivers value when people use it. Resistance is usually a sign that the change has not been explained or that real concerns have not been heard.

We help you plan the people side of change: who is affected, what they need to know and when. That covers communication, training and support for the managers who have to lead their teams through it.

After launch we help you check how the change is settling in and deal with problems quickly. The aim is for the new way of working to become the normal one.

Organisational review

Structures that suited an organisation at one size can hold it back at another. Roles overlap, decisions slow down and good people end up doing the wrong work.

We review how your organisation is set up: roles, responsibilities, reporting lines and how decisions are made. We speak to people at different levels to understand how things work in practice.

You get clear options for change, with the benefits and trade-offs of each. If you decide to go ahead, we help you plan the transition carefully and communicate it well.

Risk and governance

Every organisation carries risk. The ones that cope well know what their main risks are and who is responsible for each.

We help you identify and assess the risks that matter most to your operations, from supplier failure to the loss of key staff or data. We then agree proportionate controls for each one.

We also look at how decisions are made and recorded, and what information directors receive. Simple, regular reporting gives leaders confidence that issues will reach them in time.
